The World's Most Dangerous Roads

Regardless of risks, these roads are truly spectacular, and thus popular with trekkers and adventurous tourists - so much of the danger comes from overcrowded conditions and severely limited infrastructure. Also do not discount local traffic, which features some pretty extreme drivers hell-bent on delivering their goods to remote villages.

The Incredible Flying Cars of Tomorrow

Road-legal flying vehicles will reach the market in the near future, the New York Times reports. The Terrafugia Transition is a two-seater car that turns into a plane. Thanks to its retractable wings, Terrafugia owners will be able to store the Terrafugia in their garages, drive them to local airports, and fly them to remote destinations.

The Terrafugia would not be possible without a couple of exemptions. A safety regulation waiver from the US Federal Aviation Administration allowed the Terrafugia to use light motorcycle tires and wheels, helping to keep the vehicle's weight down to 1,320 pounds (598 kg). Another waiver permitted sturdier windows. With a top flight speed of 138 miles per hour 222 kmh), the Terrafugia needs these advanced windows to withstand high-speed impacts with birds. The following YouTube video from the Terrafugia website demonstrates a pilot driving and flying the Terrafugia.

The New York Times article also described PAL-V, a 1,500-pound (680 kg) cross between a motorcycle and a helicopter. On the road, the PAL-V tilts into curves. In the air, a rotor and propeller let it fly. European officials already approved this two-seater vehicle for driving and it is awaiting approval for flying. A proof-of-concept flight looked promising; the YouTube video from the PAL-V website below shows the PAL-V in action.

The Lava XOLO X900 is Intel’s first foray into the world of smartphones. Although the Chipzilla has been working on a mobile chipset for quite a while now, it never quite made it to the production stage, until now. With Lava as its partner, Intel has released the first smartphone basedon its Medfield platform in India, which also happens to be the first market in the world to get a phone with Intel Inside. With this phone Intel is also bringing its x86 architecture to the world of smartphones for the first time, which has been further optimized for power efficiency by Intel.Eventually Intel would be putting its chips in even more devices with partnership, with Lenovo and Motorola already in place. But for now, let is concentrate on the device at hand, the Lava XOLO X900.

DesignThe XOLO X900 has a very simple and uninspiring design. It’s mostly a long, black slab with a silver finish on the side. The front portion has a glass that stretches from top to bottom and covers the earpiece, front camera and sensors at the top, the display in the middle and the four control keys at the bottom.

Sony Xperia ion

Ever since Sony absorbed Ericsson’s stake in the company and became just Sony Mobile, the company has went on to flood the market with a ton of new phones, some of them with just minor differences from the other. One such phone is the new Xperia ion, which differs from the previous Xperia S in so few ways you can count them all on one hand with fingers to spare. We decided to take a look and see what all is new.
Design The design is one of the major differences between the Xperia ion and the Xperia S. The Xperia S is a fine looking phone but the Xperia ion takes things up a few notches. It drops the now familiar transparent glass strip at the bottom and goes for a monolithic design. You’ll notice on the front that there are now four instead of three keys below the displays, each with its own icons. We’ll get to these later.

18% Thinnest , 20% Lightest, 12% Less Volume

It’s hard to believe a phone so thin could offer so many features: a larger display, a faster chip, the latest wireless technology, an 8MP iSight camera, and more. All in a beautiful aluminum body designed and made with an unprecedented level of precision. iPhone 5 measures a mere 7.6 millimeters thin and weighs just 112 grams.1 That’s 18 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than iPhone 4S. The only way to achieve a design like this is by relentlessly considering (and reconsidering) every single detail — including the details you don’t see.
